Coping With Your Mental Health Struggles

The Global Mental Health Summit 2019 talked about the most misunderstood topic in the whole world – mental health. People can be very inconsiderate, especially those who are not welcoming of new studies and changes. One must understand that mental health is as important as physical health. Actually, for me, mental health is a mile much more important than physical health. If your mind is not in tiptop shape, your body will follow suit. And have you heard of the saying “think past the pain” (physical pain that is)? It just means that the mind is “in-charge” of the body. Now, why should we take it for granted?

Depression is real. Anxiety is perhaps one of the most common mental health disorders globally. ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a challenge among young kids, and a lot of them are being diagnosed each day. Addiction is also a mental health problem. Do you think that a person can be hooked on a game of cards, substances, and alcohol just because they want to be? No. It is not entirely true. These people who are addicted to a sure thing, at times, cannot fight the urge to do it. They are struggling with it every single day, and their mind is almost always failing.

This is why we have to nourish our minds every minute, every hour, and every day. We only have one mind, and the body that goes with it can go frail. Protect it. Shield it. Motivate it. Take care of it. Practice in your mind the art of loving yourself and putting yourself first before others. It is difficult, yes, but it must be done. You will have to cope by helping yourself, starting from yourself, as there are many tools around you to assist in that.

What are these tools? You can call a loved one or a friend if you feel like going down that road of sinking. Some use music as a coping mechanism. It will make you feel good, and your mind re-focused only on doing good. There are many natural ways to do it, but then again, if you have that difficulty, a certified mental health specialist will be able to guide you on that.

Live life. Be happy. You deserve it.
